"Mistakes are fine as long as you learn from them"
I relish the challenge of researching legal concepts and complex terminology, and faithfully rendering them in plain English. I equally enjoy following and reproducing logical arguments in legal proceedings, litigation and suchlike. Moreover, the chance to write in formal English provides an interesting contrast to more colloquial, advertising content.
As a lifelong bibliophile and linguist, I enjoyed studying translation at Durham University so much that I soon realised I’d found the ideal career path! With eight years’ experience behind me, I liken translation to neatly reordering a jigsaw so that all the pieces perfectly reflect the original picture. It is with this mindset that I always undertake my translations. In addition to translating from French and Italian to English, I also work as a proofreader and copyeditor (monolingual and translation).
