Native English (GB) speaker in Paisley, United Kingdom
"Reliability and quality above all!"
I have a degree in International Business and Modern languages. Coupled with my years working as a translator, I am able to deal with most business documents that come my way.
My clients come back to me time and time again due to my constant professionalism and my drive to deliver high-quality work without fail. I always deliver on time and am not afraid to ask questions - how else can I unsure the client gets what they’re paying for?
I offer top-notch translation, proofreading and other related services from Spanish, French and Catalan into English. I work mainly with business, financial and legal documents, although I also accept documents of a personal nature, as well as others like renewable energy and instruction manuals,
I love working with enthusiastic and engaged clients who understand the value of my work, just as I understand their need to receive first-rate texts every time, on time. Communication is key, so I strive to be contactable at all times and to foster an easy, professional experience from start to finish.
Client feedback
“Stuart is an excellent translator from Spanish to English. His translations are not only accurate representations of the Spanish but are also expressed in clear, fluid English. He is capable of handling a wide range of topics and Spanish writing styles, even at their most convoluted. He is also highly reliable in delivering his work on schedule, even ahead of time. He is very collaborative and a pleasure to work with, including for his dry Scottish sense of humor.”
“Stuart did an excellent job in translating my website. He was very professional, meeting the agreed deadlines and charging me a fair rate. In addition, I received positive feedback from clients. I would definitely rely on Stuart’s services for in the future.”
“Stuart has helped me with several translation projects. Thanks to him, I have managed to produce high-quality texts in English. Stuart has streamlined my translation and proofreading process for my clients in the United Kingdom.”
I have worked hard to establish a good reputation built on trust and, ultimately, quality work by ensuring that I am organised each day. Past experience has taught me not to bite off more than I can chew, but rather to accept a steady and manageable volume of work with a view to guaranteeing that I will meet that deadline and deliver a text that doesn’t read like a translation.
This is how I continue my learning in my area of expertise
Continuous professional development is extremely important to me. -First and foremost I make sure that I take advantage of the specialised texts that I translate, adding terminology to my glossaries and termbases as often as possible.
-Secondly, I love taking training courses on websites such as EdX and Proz.com in order to deepen my knowledge on topics I already deal with and others that I want to tackle in the future. Sometimes this means taking a break from accepting assignments, but it’s worth it!
My modus operandi for communicating with clients is
When communicating with clients, I ask myself four questions:
Do I sound professional?
Can you read the smile behind the text?
Have I addressed each of the client’s points?
Have I gone above and beyond?
Hopefully the answer to these questions is always a resounding “yes!” I strive to talk to clients professionally, writing in a way that they can almost tell that there is a smile behind the text. I am friendly and outgoing by nature, so I want this to come across even in emails.
I often itemise my emails to make sure that separate points are addressed clearly to facilitate communication and avoid unnecessary back and forth.
Finally, I want my clients to feel that I’ve gone that extra mile for them. In practice, this involves delivering translations that don’t read like translations, or even simple things like pointing out source-text errors.
As a language lover, I strongly value communication and positive interactions. With that in mind, I work best when my clients treat me like a human being rather than a translation machine. That means setting boundaries, providing decent remuneration for the highly skilled work I perform and affording me sufficient time to complete each task.
Most of my clients fully understand this and it shows in how they interact with me. This is highly motivating for me and, in return, I work hard to deliver quality work, bearing in mind that clients also have restrictions and requirements of their own that I have to consider.
Stuart has translated FR/ES>EN projects for us, such as business and legal documents. His translation works are of good quality. He’s always helpful, and easy to work with.

Stuart has been translating abstracts and summaries for me for more than 6 years. I write socioeconomic articles for journals containing complex concepts and terminology, which is hard to understand even for Spanish native speakers. Stuart always asks questions when clarification is needed, which I really appreciate, and he perfectly captures the essence and the style of my articles in English. Publishers’ feedback has always been amazing in terms of how accurate the translations were. 200% recommended.
