"NL>EN translator with a passion for literary translation"
I have translated poetry and prose for various literary festivals in the Netherlands, including Winternachten, Crossing Borders, Read My World and Poetry International, translating works by writers including Ellen Deckwitz, Vamba Sherif and Raj Mohan.
In addition to festival work, I have also translated the website for Otranto Cathedral, various handbooks and publications for democracy educator ProDemos and the Spinozalens philosophy prize.
I’ve been working as a freelance translator since 2015, primarilly Dutch into English, but I also regularly translate from French, Italian and Catalan to English and I have experience translating from Spanish, Portuguese and Galician into English. While I’ve translated everything from legal documents to clothing catalogues during my freelance career, my great passion is literary translation. Books and poetry collections that I’ve translated include Jule Deelder’s Transeuropa, Roanne van Voorst’s Ook aten we dieren and the Zoë Janssen series for Kobo, and I’ve done extensive work for literary festivals including Winternachten, Read My World and Poetry International.
This is how I continue my learning in my area of expertise
I’m constantly reading non-fiction and novels in my source languages, which also helps me to keep abreast of the latest literary developments and trends.
