My professional methodology for a standard translation project is

First step is to ask client every possible detail about the project. I collect his/her preferences over voice (formal/informal), specific target audience and previous translations, if there are (to gather terminology and style for consistency purposes).

Second step involves translation and production.

Third step is to revise my own work, which I typically do in a different day to read the text as objectively as possible. I work with QA tools to detect all types of errors and ensure best quality results.

Final step is delivery. I am always open to criticism and to revise/modify as needed.
