I read the book as a reader while translating as a translator. This means I ask myself questions as a reader when there is something off with the scene or the plot.
Examples:
On page 5 a character is named Lisa, but on page 125 it shows as Linda.
A character is handcuffed and they suddenly cross their arms over the chest.
A character stood up to do something and in the next paragraph they stand up again.
I don´t just translate the words I see and if a character has two diferent names it´s not my problem. I try to help the author notice these things to improve both the original and the translation.
My modus operandi for communicating with clients is
I ask questions. I don´t translate what I think it might say. If I don´t understand it, I ask. If I see something (a joke, a pun, etc.) doesn´t work in spanish, I explain and offer options to solve it.
This means I need a fluent communication with the client. I will not bother every five minutes with questions, but I commit to a high quality work so I will not leave something that may be incorrect for not asking.
Natalia did an excellent job translating my Urban Fantasy series to Spanish. She was a joy to work with and her understanding of the translation process and how to explain it was exceptional. I would hire her again.
Natalia is very professional and consistently provides high-quality translations. She communicates with the author and pays close attention to details. It was a pleasure working with her and I highly recommend her.
I had a wonderful experience working with Natalia and would be able to highly recommend her. She was great with her communication and meeting deadlines, plus just a really wonderful person to work with.
I have worked extensively with Natalia Steckel over the last five years as she translated my books from English into Spanish. Natalia is the ultimate professional - her communication is clear, she takes direction well, carefully considers nuances, and her work is always delivered on time. I trust her judgement and have consulted her with often because she is meticulous and conscientious. I have complete confidence in her work and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a Spanish-English translator.
Natalia is quite simply one of the best people I have ever had the privilege of working with. She is extremely professional, highly reliable, and very talented in the field of translation. I have worked with other translators in the past and only Natalia has submitted to me 100% perfect work first-time around.
I can always trust her to do the work right and to do it within the agreed deadline. Her rates are also extremely fair, unlike others who try to charge you a fortune.
I can not recommend her highly enough to anyone looking for a Spanish-English translator. If you hire Natalia, you will not be disappointed. Guaranteed.
Natalia was extremely professional and clarified everything with very detailed questions so she could get the most accurate translations for me. Considering the amount of slang and idioms used in my books, she did an outstanding job finding the best way to translate even the hardest passages. I highly recommend her.
I had one entire book translated from English to Spanish by Natalie, plus a rewrite of another book where the original translation was poor. Natalie is a skilled and accurate translator, professional and easy to work with. I can recommend her highly.
