Hi, I’m Mirko, gamer, game localizer and independent translator with more than 11 years of experience in the field. If you need help with your project, do get in touch and I’ll be happy to discuss it with you!
I have worked on a wide range of titles for desktop, console and mobile platforms, including:
MMO(RPG)
RPG
Adventure/SLG
Action/casual
FPS
Strategy
In addition to gaming proper, I also have relevant experience with the localization of other types of software, mobile apps and websites.
In addition, I regularly work with marketing content, such as product market descriptions, CTA, social and other engagement copy. I am quite familiar with the IT field and also worked with tourism-related copy.
I am a qualified member of the Italian Association of Translators and Interpreters (AITI), which means my experience and translation ability have both been verified by a recognized national professional association, member of the International Federation of Translators (FIT).
This is how I solved a recent terminology, style, or linguistic challenge
I was recently asked to translate a 1000 words blog post about a MMO game (battle royale style) for MS Windows, PS4, Nintendo Switch and Xbox.
Lacking specific instructions about writing style, target audience and such (since the style guide I had was more generic), what I did was research and read up on the game in order to understand its mechanics, overall “feel” and main target groups, also watching gameplay videos to actually see it “in action”.
Then I considered what the main goal of the source text was and whom it talked to, translating it with a high degree of creativity, with an informal, lighthearted style and wordplays to match both the game mechanics and the overall style of the source text.
This is how I continue my learning in my area of expertise
As part of my qualified membership with a national translators’ association, I regularly take courses to fulfill its mandatory Continuing Professional Development requirements.
Mirko provided a great service and approached the job in a very detailed and context-oriented way. I am very happy with the end result and would highly recommend Mirko for EN->IT localization!
Over the past year, Mirko has become our go-to Italian translator. He has worked on a variety of material for us, including our educator guide. Mirko has a high standard of excellence, and he is very thorough, creative, and detail-oriented. All of his jobs are delivered on time or early. As someone new the field, I have also appreciated his localization input and insight. Mirko always adds value to our jobs, and I really enjoy working with him!
