Ever since my teen years, I’ve been fascinated with language.

In school, I first met with German and English, and then with Latin and Italian. They were all distinctive, fun and challenging in their own way, and we became good friends during my school days. I still gladly remember all of them, even though I haven’t had a serious conversation with German, Latin or Italian since I graduated high school.

That’s mainly because my professional fascination was reserved for Slavic languages. Although my Master’s were Croatian and Russian, along the way of getting that degree, I had a chance to meet with some of their siblings. Slovenian, Macedonian, and I became pretty good acquaintances. Also, I became close friends with Old Church Slavonic, Ukrainian and Bulgarian. I did my best to find a place for all of them in my Master’s thesis, and I even went to Bulgaria to get to know that one even better.

My work experience includes three years as a Copy Editor for the online magazine “Studentski.hr”, where I honed my writing, editing, and proofreading skills. I also worked for five years as a full-time Quality Assurance Specialist for a Croatian LSP, where I reviewed more than 2 million words per year, predominantly high-profile legal documents for the European Commission.

I currently run a sole proprietorship providing translation, proofreading and language teaching services. In addition to my professional experience, I have attended several language courses in Slavic languages, including the International Summer Seminar for Bulgarian Language and Culture, which provided me with an immersive language and cultural experience that enhanced my language skills and cultural understanding. I also have a keen interest in the history of Slavic languages and the translation of music lyrics, which allows me to approach translation projects with creativity and passion.
