I have always been a major language enthusiast who enjoyed reading books and writing and, naturally, I decided to get a degree in foreign languages. While still in college, I started working as an English language teacher and a freelance translator, which allowed me to further develop my skills in English and Turkish, but also in my mother tongue.
Subtitling is something I have been doing intensively for the past three years. I mainly work for Mediatranslations, one of the biggest media company in Croatia.
Types of content I translate on regular basis: -Movies -Documentaries -TV shows -Soap operas
However, subtitling is not the only thing I do. I also have experience in translating news articles, bank reports and safety manuals.
Recently I watched a fairly good movie that, unfortunately, had a lousy translation. Just to make it clear, the movie was in English and I could just turn off the Croatian subtitles and still enjoy it, but I realized how much this ruins the whole experience for those who need subtitles in order to understand the content they are watching. I took this situation as an incentive to try even harder to find the best translation and truly localize the content I work on.
