About Me

English to (BR) Portuguese Translator in business since 2009!

Working mostly with technical translations, localization and subtitles.

I have BA in Language and Literature (English and Portuguese) from the University of Sao Paulo, in Brazil. That is where I learned about translation and started to build my career.

Among other skills I am a TAUS Certified MT Post-Editor.

Here’s some experience I have:

over 100 hours of subtitles proofread and spotted for the Khan Academy Brasil portal and YouTube channel
over 1M words translated for various happy clients
worked in teams localizing 3 mobile apps into Brazilian Portuguese
technical translations and transcreation to reach the Brazilian market

This is how I continue my learning in my area of expertise

I participate in Conferences (specially now that everything is online!) and try to participate in CPD sessions at my Translators Associations.

I also keep an eye on webinars on CAT tools that I use to improve my knowledge and experience with those aplications.

This is how I solved a recent terminology, style, or linguistic challenge

One of my localization clients sent me a small task with just a headline. No visual context and no more textual context. The English wording didn’t work well in Portuguese but I needed at least some more information about the rest of the text to choose how to reword that.
So I used the client-given communication channel (gotta love Slack!) and we solved the problem in a few minutes!

This is what motivates me to do my best work

Seeing my client’s product make an impact in my home country is what keeps me going.

Sometimes we translators don’t see the finished product of our work. That is how I used to feel with my technical translations. Now with app localization and subtitles, the impact of my work is more tangible and encourages me to keep improving my skills and to give my best!
