Native French (FR) speaker in Montigny-lès-Metz, France
"Machine-acute, human feelings"
I have been playing video games for nearly twenty years. Thus, I can easily understand their principles, what is the creative process behind, what a gamer needs to know, etc. Besides, I do not lack terminology about it, since I have played a lot of genres: action, RPG, MMO, strategy, visual novels, racing…
Difficulties for Translating Video Games
I have been analyzing translation mistakes in that field for too many years and I can face those ones.
I was in the University of Lorraine (renown university in France) and now have a Master’s degree in Foreign Languages Applied to Business, specialized in translation technologies. At the end of that year, I did an internship with a French-Japanese little company called K.K. Doublet that mainly deals with software translation. Also, I did have a lot of classes in this field.
My hobby is a passion!
As I am using computers for twenty years, I am quite well acquainted with them and other machines/devices (smartphones, video game consoles, etc). I also have basics in coding (Python, PHP) and have a great understanding of OS, developping…

Why would you hire me for your translations?
Specialized in the field: With my understanding of devices, my translations will never get off the subject;
Studied CAT tools: My knowledge in those tools will help me to offer you a translation faster while being more consistent;
Near to you: I’m nice and I will never let you down to bring you human-centered translation :)
I am excited about these new developments with the translation technology I use
CAT tools are great with translations. They actually do not restraint the creativity of their owner, but they allow to remove the inconsistences in the document. I have learned OmegaT’s funcioning for some months now and wrote some articles about it on my blog (if you want to check: https://lilianfaedi.wixsite.com/my-site, even if it’s in French). My learning has been successful: it shows that I am always able to adapt myself to new challenges in terms of software. That was the same for Trados Studio and MemoQ two years ago. The new features of some software have to be tested, right?
I’ve worked with Lilian in the past and I can say that he is really involved in what he does, he is passionated about video games and whatever involves software translation. I recommend his services to anyone looking for nice and original translations.
