About Me

My name is Katrin, I am a native German graduate translator and my core business is technical translation, mainly from English and French, but also from Spanish and Catalan to German.

My technical fields

My passion are industrial machines and processes, construction and mining, automotive, sports gears, textile engineering, materials development, medical technology, domestic appliances, European directives and specifications for machines and devices, technical catalogues, watchmaking… but also marketing, general economy, tourism, legal and much more.

About me and my work

Reliability, flexibility and punctuality are the key elements of my work, but also creativity and attention to detail are necessary ingredients for successful language services. With respect to my professional network, I appreciate reactivity, as well as constructive and human relations based on mutual trust.

My CAT tools

I am currently working with the CAT tools Trados and MemoQ (compatible with Wordfast files) but also with cloud based tools as MemSource, Trados Live and XTM. To respond to the changing demands of the market, I offer machine translation post-editing (MTPE) in light or full version.

This is how I manage terminology consistency in my area of expertise

I ask or research for client specific terminology. If not available, I research field specific glossaries or parallel texts to extract the terminology.
For very specific technical content, I create a glossary and ask the client to validate it before I deliver the final project.
And of course, I use the Termbase for client specific projects to guarantee a consistent terminology.

This is how I continue my learning in my area of expertise

I like to keep myself updated with new technologies and tools for assisting my workflow, so I read a lot, and I assist to conferences and trainings.
In 2020, I did two trainings about MTPE and currently, I am doing a training about Transcreation. This helps me to diversify my service offer and to be up to date in my fields of expertise.
