I have a Master’s degree in Marketing and worked several years as a communication coordinator. I regularly translate marketing and communication materials for companies.
Writing, revising and studying language interferences is what I like to do. I also love books and literature so it is no surprise that after several years working in communication and administration, I decided to plunge into the word of translation. After a Master’s degree in Marketing and a Specialized graduate diploma in Didactics, I chose to consolidate my skills by pursuing a Certificate in English-to-French Translation. I am a French native speaker who grew up in France. Those 15 last years, I studied in England and in the Netherlands, and I worked in Finland. I have been living in Canada for 9 years now.
What do I translate?
Those studies and experiences have actually contributed to enrich my skills and now allow me to offer quality translation services in various fields, such as administration, marketing, communication, education, sales or accounting. I am also a verified translator for Translator Without Borders, for whom I translate documents for many NGOs (World Health Organization, International Refugee Committee, ChildFund, CARE International, etc.)
How my studies and interests help me provide better translations?
I love French grammar and linguistics, that I have studied at university but, on a general note, I am interested in languages. Writing is not only about words, but also about targeting an audience and conveying clear messages, and an academic background in Marketing strengthened my analytical expertise (research, creativity, analysis and synthesis, etc,).
How did I learn from my previous professional experiences?
Working in various positions (administration, marketing, communication, sales, accounting & finances, etc.) and across several industries (sport, NPOs, media, retail, etc.) gave me the opportunity to expand my knowledge, to collaborate with people with different profiles and to be more flexible and adaptable. I had to get out of my comfort zone and learned a lot about myself.
This is how I continue my learning in my area of expertise
By being Curious & Open-minded: I believe in “multipotentiality” and think that we learn from every situation, that’s the reason why I deliberately chose (and continue) to explore many fields, to constantly educate myself and to broaden my experience through academic studies, readings, workshops, activities, etc.
