That is my motivation and passion to do my best work.

Fashion translation and subtitling are areas I’m extremely interested in and passionate about, and that I take very seriously. I have even delivered a lecture on Fashion Translation for translators and was a guest on a chat about subtitling.

There are many good messages and quality content around the world, and language shouldn’t be a barrier for people who want to access them.

That’s why my mission is enabling people to enjoy great fashion, entertainment, and educational content through translation and subtitling.

Fashion is a very diverse area.

Therefore, it involves a lot of technical terminology.

A great fashion translator is also a master in fashion terminology.

Through years of fashion studies and a bachelor’s degree, I have vast knowledge in fashion terminology.

But how to manage terminology consistency?

With the use of translation software, glossaries, and reference sheets, I can guarantee consistency in fashion terminology, both in source and target languages.

Continuing professional development is extremely important, especially in translation and subtitling: areas that are constantly evolving.

Continuing education is key in CPD.

In order to stay up to date as a professional translator and subtitler, I study translation and subtitling through short courses, masterclasses, and academic courses.

Some of my recent courses are:

• Portuguese for translators. Being a master in the native language is crucial for any translator.
• Subtitling techniques. Knowing the best way to convey the message through subtitles in another language while following subtitling rules and techniques is essential to be a good subtitler.
• Graduate degree in English Translation. Getting to know the industry’s new trends and technologies through formal academic studies is key to staying up-to-date and qualified as a translation professional.

When translating and subtitling, my goals are:

• Make it clear and natural to the Brazilian audience. People buy what they understand.

• Transparency and accuracy. You will always be aware of the translation process and how the translation will benefit you, while receiving a high-quality translation and/or subtitle as an output.

• Respect and cordiality. I will always maintain a cordial business relationship with you and respect you and your content/material to be translated, while doing my best to make it work for the Brazilian audience.

You translate the fashion trends. I translate the words.

When translating and subtitling, I often encounter terminology and linguistic challenges. In those cases, a literal translation just doesn’t do it.

Adaptation is key.

Even in similar languages like Spanish and Portuguese, literal translations make no sense in the target language. Especially with jokes, puns and proverbs, adaptation is needed to make the text sound clear and natural to the target audience.

That is why my main concern and goal when translating and subtitling is:

Making the content clear for the audience, so it looks like it was originally written in the target language.
