"Your media & business translator | English to German"
I acquired the basics of business and economics during my studies in Media Management / Journalism. The journalism part also included the basics of corporate communications.
During my translation course I specialized in business & economics translations, specifically journalistic texts and corporate communications.
You are looking for a competent translator in the areas of media or economics / business? I combine professional experience from working in the media industry and a translation certificate to help you design your German translations.
Language Services
I am a media professional and certified translator specializing in media & business translations.
Audiovisual media
Subtitles are well made if your audience barely notices them. Badly done subtitles, however, are quickly discovered and cast a negative light on your whole production. Thanks to my experience in TV production, I have a good understanding of storytelling and post-production processes. This knowledge goes into my considerations when converting spoken and on-screen text into easy-to-read and understandable German subtitles.
Business & Economics
As an economics translator, I understand the importance of clear and accurate translations in the world of business. Regardless of whether it is corporate communications, journalistic articles or other texts with an economics background - I transfer your English texts into common “business German”.
Websites & Apps
During my job as a digital marketing manager I experienced first-hand, what kind of considerations have to be kept in mind while crafting a website. Since then I built on this knowledge by attending a SEO translation workshop and participating in a UX writing course.
Education & Experience
I hold a B.A. in Journalism & Media Management as well as a professional translation certificate. Before becoming a freelance translator, I have…
…worked in video and TV production as a project manager
…worked as a digital marketing manager for a multilingual website rollout
…worked as a recruiter for freelance software engineers
So I know what it is like to be “on the other side” and how to ensure a good working relationship between freelancer and client.
As a former project manager, I put a lot of emphasis on two things: clear communication and a proper project plan.
I like to think each project through from the very beginning to ensure quality and delivery in a timely manner.
Clear communication means that nothing is left to the imagination - both parties should at any point of a project know what the scope is, when the project is due and how much it costs. If there are any changes to any one of these points, I like to be very transparent in order to find a solution together.
…I know exactly what you as my client need from me
…I have a contact person to come back to with possible questions
…the project scope, timeline and remuneration allow me to do proper research and carefully ponder details
But what really motivates me most is feedback!
Naturally, positive feedback will have me smiling and strive to deliver even better quality next time around. But constructive feedback on what I could or should improve also makes me happy, as I know that it is the only way to add even more value for my clients.
Andrea, Sprachkoordinatorin TED Deutschland (https://www.ted.com/participate/translate/our-translators/language-coordinators/german)
Julia Ferch is an above-average translator of subtitles in the context of TED Talks and TED-Ed lessons. She handles the German language confidently and correctly; all her projects are excellently researched and technically well mastered. I can recommend her without reservation.
Julia did translate pretty fast children’s book about social equality. When we exchanged by mail, she was fast to answer. It was a real pleasure to work with her.
