My main strengths, as a full-time translator and proofreader with 13 years’ experience, are a very high level of written English (I don’t make spelling mistakes!) and naturally my meticulous attention to detail. I have extensive experience of administrative work too, including filing, database entry, checking invoices, contact with internal departments, external partners and other organisations and minute-taking, from the period when I worked at the Chartered Institute of Linguists, a third-sector organisation. All my roles have involved effective multi-tasking and stringent time management, often working to very tight deadlines.
Prior to that, when I was a teacher of business English to adult professionals at a top business English school in London, always working as part of a close-knit team, I had to demonstrate strong communication skills and deal efficiently and diplomatically with international corporate clients with a wide range of profiles on a daily basis. I rose to Acting/Assistant Director of Studies at that organisation within a few years of joining, which involved supervising a team of 20 staff.
