I really enjoy learning new things and am constantly seeking out new learning opportunities. I appreciate and respect the other cultures. I am determined to break down the misconceptions, stigmas and other barriers that prevent various cultural groups from understanding and embracing one another. I believe that I have a valuable role to play by sharing my linguistic appreciation with the world. I understand how different attitudes and traditions that distinguish various cultures ultimately influence language itself. I am able to pick up on the relationship between culture and language.
I am a very good communicator and find it’s easy for me to relate to other people. I strive to master regional differences and dialects, as these can have a a significant influence on comprehension since linguistic excellence hinges on the mastery not only of basic vocabulary but also the specialised terminology and differences in intonation that can completely alter a word or phrase’s meaning. My prior experience in customer service has provided me with unique technical skills that I can apply to this role.
I am staying up-to-date with modern trends of vocabulary. As well as artificial intelligence and machine learning. I’m not afraid of failure. In fact, I think it is an essential part of the experimental process that gets you to success. I am viewing changes as opportunities to better serve my clients.
When solving problems, I apply both logic and emotional aspects in equal proportion. My fluency in Malay language can be an extremely valuable skill in the translation community. To avoid discrepancies in translating specific technical terms, I would comply with establish glossaries. I love to check, double check and triple check to ensure that every detail is correct.
I demand perfection for myself and those around me, and I feel confident in the quality of my work. I also hold room for improvement, I accept and encourage criticism to improve my skills.
These are the pressures I enjoy and do not enjoy in my work
With tight deadlines, I know how to strike the perfect balance between speed and accuracy to keep my clients happy. I also have a deep interest in language and translation that inspires me to amid the pressure. I take pride in my work and is committed to continuous improvement and optimisation. I also maintain the style of translation that reflects the customer’s wishes. Good translators need to understand all meaning, including all the subtle nuances implied in the text. I also enjoy making consistently good translation decisions. On vocabulary and structures to use, when to be more literal/freer and what and how much to research.
