I’ve been a gamer ever since I can remember, with my favourite genres being RPGs, simulation games and city building games. Some of my favourite games include The Sims franchise, Uncharted, Assassin’s Creed, Dragon Age, and anything by Two Point Studios or Failbetter Games.
I can translate everything in a game, from the UI, to the dialogues, to the marketing materials.
Nice to meet you! My name is Inês and I’m a freelance translator. I specialize in the areas of game localization and audiovisual translation (with a focus on dubbing). My working languages are English to European Portuguese, and I’m currently learning Japanese so that, one day, I can offer you my services in that language as well.
And what about experience?
Well, I have to admit, I’m pretty new to the business. But I do have a Bachelor in Languages and Literatures and a Master in Translation and Language Services, both by the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of University of Porto, in Portugal. And being new to the business doesn’t necessarily mean I don’t have any experience. I have been working with some Portuguese companies doing game localization and subtitling. I also know how to work with several CAT tools, like memoQ, Trados Studio, Smartcat and OmegaT.
But why should you work with me?
Ah! Now there’s a great question. I’m a dedicated worker, with a strong work ethic. But more important: I understand that your work is important to you, so I’ll treat your project as if it was my own, being passionate about it and making sure that it succeeds.
What services do I offer, then?
At the moment, I’m offering the following services:
This is how I continue my learning in my area of expertise
I honestly believe that continuous learning is one of the most important things anyone can do. In my case, this means:
Language Learning
I’m staring a new language (Japanese), so that I can, one day, offer my services as a Japanese to European Portuguese translator. This is specially important, as Japanese is one of the languages most used in games and animation.
Continuous Learning
I’m constantly searching for courses I can do to advance and/or maintain my skills. For example, I’ve attended the TranslaStars course Expert on Game Localization from the 15th to the 19th of May 2023. I’m also looking for good courses on JIRA and subtitling.
