This is how I solved a recent communication challenge with a client

Have you ever feel the need to “educate” clients with aggressive stereotypes and political correctness everywhere in the texts? In the Vietnamese language, we have the diaspora Vietnamese language variant, which is very difficult to translate due to its reference back to the Sino-Vietnamese vocabulary, style and the implicit political correctness of the diaspora Vietnamese communities overseas.

First, LISTEN to the clients

No matter what is actually “good”, RESPECT your clients and LISTEN to their complaints first.

SECOND, show them how much *YOU EMPATHIZE and UNDERSTAND them

THIRD, start to separate your empathy with the unreasonable complaints by SHOWING FACTS and CLEAR ARGUMENTS. Be aware of your tone and language usage.

FOURTH, give them how terrible the language they intend to use will be in English with evidence if possible and GIVE THEM SUGGESTIONS.

As a writer in my native language, this is how I would describe my style

I think there hasn’t been much movement with technology related to finding and hiring freelance translators. I am extremely excited for Zingword.

Problems with current technology include

Job boards are not great. They force translators to duplicate each other’s work, and they encourage price dumping.
It’s hard to distinguish yourself. It’s actually easier on LinkedIn, but LinkedIn is not designed to actually staff translation projects.
Outdated design just isn’t getting it done.
