Life Sciences - Pharma
I started working as a freelance English to Spanish translator 9 years ago. I started doing a bit of everything, but when I was introduced to Life Sciences and pharma, there was no turning back.
Not to the surprise of anyone, I’ve always had a soft spot for the hard sciences!
This is how I solved a recent terminology, style, or linguistic challenge
A few months ago, I embarked on a big project (1.5 million words) with 2 other colleagues. There were many files, the client had no TM and we had to make partial deliveries until deadline.
How could we assure terminology and style consistency without someone checking on uniformity postranslation?
Well, organization and willing to work are key.
These were the steps we followed:
- We created an online project will all files and a main TM.
- We created an Excel drive file where we wrote down all terminology enquiries and sugested solutions.
- After working on the first files, a glossary was created that we kept on feeding as the project moved along.
- We set up common DTP rules.
The result? The client received cohesive files and praised the quality of our work and timely delivery.
I’ve been working with Damián for almost a decade. He’s an outstanding linguist and a great colleague to collaborate with. Given his years of experience and his great eye for detail, I can always rely on his skills to render accurate and high-quality translations, especially in the medical field. His work is impeccable and he can be truly relied upon, even when subject to tight deadlines. I’m sure he will be a great asset for any individual, business or language service provider that wishes to hire his services.
