I work part time as a Spanish (LatAm and European)>English freelance translator in the UK. I am extremely passionate about the work and services I provide:
translation
transcreation
proof reading and quality assurance -copyediting I used to live in Spain and am raising my children bilingually. I speak Catalan and Italian very well. I am very professional, reliable and flexible. I have a proven track record of meeting tight deadlines ( I used to work as a Spaish teacher!) and I love to learn and constantly develop my expertise. I am a proud member of several important groups: Women in Localization, Emerging Translators Network, CIOL, and the North West Translators Network.
My professional methodology for a standard translation project is
Create a first (rough) draft highlighting any problematic words/phrases Use online dictionary to decide on best fit or use Cat Tool for technical terminology Create a second draft having taken a substantial break Proof read second draft (send to a colleague to quality assure) Send final, polished translaton to client
I taught Claire at university and can confirm, given her strengths in cultural studies that arts and culture will be real strengths of her translation portfolio. Her translation assignments and other coursework were always time and to a high quality, hence her solid degree classification.
