Hi! My name is Chiara, and I am a freelance translator.
Being a translator has been my dream job since I was a child, so I decided to get a BA in Interlingual Mediation and an MA in Translation and Interpreting from the University of Genoa, Italy. Italian is my native language, while English, Russian, and German are the languages I translate from. Since my graduation, I have worked mostly on revision and MTPE jobs, but translating literature is what I am truly interested in - books, articles, papers, journals, and other fictional and non-fictional works.
Thanks to voluntary work, I have gained additional field experience. I have been translating children’s stories on StoryWeaver and astronomy articles for the European Southern Observatory.

What I put in my translations
The exact source message and style
This should be a given, but I want to emphasise it: I always make sure that my translations fulfil the requirement of functional equivalence. This means they convey the original text meaning while sounding natural in the target language.
Correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, and layout
Content is essential, but form is not secondary: a translation is not complete without flawless proofreading.
Great passion
Sounds a bit cheesy, but my passion for this job is what makes me strive for perfection :)
