Hi, there! The name is Breno, but feel free to call me Nyksund :)

I’ve been working with video games translation/localization for over 15 years. During this time, I have provided worked on over 500 thousand words for MMORPGs, horror & survival FPS, sci-fi space exploration, flight simulators, puzzle & escapism, among other game genres. I am fully capable in working with standard and custom file formats.

My current EUR rates for pt-BR <> en-US/en-UK pairs are as listed below, all of which can be negotiated:

This is how I solved a recent terminology, style, or linguistic challenge

RPGs are usually filled with neologisms, be it for item, location or monster names. English is a language in which concatenating word radicals might provide interesting new words, but the same approach doesn’t ring as true for Brazilian Portuguese. Faced with such a challenge, I took a step back and remembered an esteemed Brazilian writer who mixed radicals from less-known regional languages to form new words. With that in mind, I challenged convention and released what are known as the key-monsters in the League of Legends lore, but tailored for the Brazilian locale: “Azuporã” is our Blue Sentinel, “Rumbrivira” is our Red Brambleback and “Aronguejo” is our Scuttlecrab. Those names ended up being so popular among players that were even used as motif in parodies.

Possibly the best translator I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with. Excellent translation quality and speed, perfect communication skills. Has never missed a deadline for the years I have worked with him, even for urgent last minute requests. Typically finishes all tasks within 1 or 2 days of sending out the tasks. Takes great care in making sure the original context is not lost in translation: has and will ask for clarification for aspects left unclear, and even localizes lines (after confirming with us) that do not work outside of English/American context (e.g. plays on words, cultural specific lines, etc.). Overall fantastic translator.
