I am passionate about this subject, since I have done some research on it myself and translated a few documents, mainly about the stock market, indexes, and the FOREX market. I know about these topics, so there is usually not much for me to research when it comes to terminology or jargon.
I specialize in technical documents: Such as Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), scientific, and financial articles. Been translating by request for over 3 years, with great focus on vocabulary accuracy and terminology consistency.
Content I translate: Mainly Safety Data Sheets and scientific articles, as mentioned before, but I am open to translate texts or documents from different areas, especially literature and philosophy. Can provide samples of some previous documents translated by me.
Reasons to hire me: Great experience with over 200 documents/texts successfully translated.
Focus on vocabulary accuracy and terminology consistency. *Research on specialized terminology/jargon.
This is how I solved a recent terminology, style, or linguistic challenge
Recently, I had to translate an essay which is all about “worrying the line”. This is a very complicated musical expression, focused on mixing many musical elements to create Blues. The term was used as not only a noun, but it was also made into a verb and even an adjective by the author, which was a real problem, mainly because that expression does not exist in Spanish and this was of playing with the words is not very common in Spanish, since it is not as flexible in this area as English. When this phenomenon occurs (worrying the line), Spanish speaking musicians describe it, therefore it was nearly impossible to work with this expression. What I did, was to give a thorough explanation and slowly introduced it in all those ways the term was presented in the original text, adapting it as well into verb and adjective in a very informal tone, the same as the original text.
