I love the Italian language and am constantly reading and listening to a wide variety of media. I regularly read Italian novels and websites, follow Italian creators on social media, and watch Italian movies and TV shows. This helps me keep up to date on a wide variety of terminology, colloquialisms, and nuances.

Never trust a translator who doesn’t ask questions or maintain constant communication! Italian often allows for ambiguity that is harder to capture in English without engaging with the original author to understand his or her intentions. I provide updates after every chapter using a specific template which organizes my questions and comments for you.

If you prefer a literal translation, you’ll save yourself a lot of time and money by using machine translation and some light editing. But especially when it comes to literary translation, what you save in time and money is more than lost in impact and readability.

I may sometimes use words and structures that are unfamiliar or unexpected to you. That’s because when I read your novel, I immerse myself in the world you’ve created. I want the English-speaking reader to feel captivated, moved, saddened, overjoyed, and to experience everything your Italian readers do.

But of course, I strive to stay as close as possible to your intended meaning through frequent communication with you, asking/answering questions, and explaining options. An Italian author I’m working with was recently able to present her book at the very prestigious Salone Internazionale del Libro in Torino.
