I try my best to stick to the original text, but there are cases in which a literal translation harms the original work. In these cases, I alter the wording slighty while keeping the meaning completely intact.

The problem these days is that too many people rely on AI translation. Often times, they are not native speakers of the result language, and therefore do not realise just how bad AI translation is.

The main problem with AI translation is that it… doesn’t talk properly. Yeah, grammatically, it’s correct, but nobody talks like that! And it certainly is not understandable.

As a native speaker of both languages I am working on, I can understand exactly what the client is trying to say, even if they do not say it directly. I then translate what they wanted to say in the clearest and most understandable way, such that it seems the text was written in that language in the first place.
